Video Loss

Video loss is regarded as a potential alarm event, and is considered to occur any time that the DVR doesn’t receive an active video signal on any of its inputs.

The default behavior of the DVR, when a channel has no incoming video signal, is simply to display “Video Loss” in white text on a black background over the associated channel. If you’re not using all the inputs on your DVR, then some channels will be in “permanent” Video Loss state. Just be sure that you don’t enable a video loss action for these channels.

There are three possible options you can let your DVR do or alert you when a video loss event occurs. It’s set in the same way as the action for any other event. The types of action available are:

Audio Warning

The DVR uses its internal buzzer to emit an alarm tone. It sounds like an old computer indicating an error, or a large truck backing up.

Send Email

The DVR sends an auto-email alert when the event type you’ve selected occurs. Selecting Email Settings brings you to the same email configuration screen accessible from the Network menu

Trigger Alarm Output

The DVR triggers one or more external alarms connected to it.

Network Status Alert

We buy CCTV most of the time for remote/internet view and it is made possible through network connection. Live view and an underlying memory back up are what make CCTV installation a deterrent one for unruly behavior, anti-social elements, burglary theft, etc. In a user’s point of view, remote/internet view makes it more powerful that he can do the surveillance from anywhere in the world. Chances are that somebody disconnects network and does something against user himself. Even that momentary ‘pause’ in a network connection can be intimated to the user as alert.

At the end of the month or a year, the user may wish to generate a report stating how many times he received a call/SMS from Effrosafe. Category-wise report also can be generated for Video loss, Motion alert, Hard disk trouble, Network status alert and Security status.
